DESCRIPTION

Specialty finance companies have always been part of the lending landscape but the market has seen an explosion in lending models and players since the first marketplace lender launched a decade ago. According to one of the major credit unions, these alternative lenders surpassed banks in personal loan origination volume for the first time in 2015.

As alternative lenders mature, they face an evolving set of issues to scale in a sustainable way such as securing committed capital sources, establishing new distribution channels, managing increased levels of compliance scrutiny, and making smart underwriting decisions as credit conditions change. This panel discussion will bring together a collection of alternative lending stakeholders to discuss how market leaders got to where they are today as well as where the market is likely to go in the future.

Tony Morosini

Vice President of Product Development at SoFi

I am very fortunate to have spent my career at the intersection of the commercialization of new technologies with the opportunity of ground breaking business models. It has been very exciting to drive the transformation of ideas from scribbles on napkins to enterprise systems running companies.

For the past dozen years I have been focused on payments, banking and lending, having spent a good bit of time at both Visa and now SoFi. The common theme has been the challenge of combining innovation with practicality, to bring new business opportunities to market.
