Bart Venlet moved to Central 1 in 2010 after a long career in mobile. Central 1 is an organization owned by credit unions in British Columbia and Ontario and provides online / mobile banking services and payment processing services to credit unions across Canada. Recently, Forrester ranked Central 1’s mobile banking app as number 1 in North America in terms of functionality and usability. Within Central 1, Bart is responsible for managing the portfolio of in-branch solutions and consumer payment products.
Prior to joining Central 1, Bart worked for Vodafone in the Netherlands and Japan. He launched the first mobile micropayment product in the Netherlands in 2003, which enabled third party providers to receive payments for content and apps, and served as a catalyst for the development of the mobile internet. He also launched a highly successful portfolio of services for MVNOs, allowing third party brands to leverage Vodafone’s excellent network.
