This weekend, BattleHack will touch down in Boston for the first time. Known for its tech-savvy residents, it’s no surprise that the city is a huge supporter of the local technology and developer communities. In fact, Boston’s CIO, Jascha Franklin-Hodge, will be at BattleHack to show his support and help spark some great ideas.
“The City of Boston believes in technology innovation and in the power of technology to help address the challenges faced by the people of Boston,” said Franklin-Hodge. “We have an incredible community of developers, designers, and innovators, and we are excited to see it come together to hack things to make our city better. This weekend’s PayPal BattleHack Boston and the City's own event at HubHacks are a great opportunities for technologists to use their skills for social good. We look forward to seeing their unique ideas for improving our city.”
In addition to Jascha’s visit during our opening ceremony, we’re thrilled to have an esteemed panel of judges for our Boston event. Our own Tim Messerschmidt, will be joined by Abby Fitchner, Hacker in Residence at Harvard Innovation Lab and Creator of Hack Boston; Simeon Simeonov, Founder and CTO of Swoop; John Underkoffler, CEO of Oblong and David Chang, COO for the PayPal Media Network.
Our Boston hack will take place at Isobar and, in true BattleHack form, competitors will be fueled throughout the weekend with local specialty foods and a heavy array of coffee and energy drinks to keep them going.
As a long standing technology hub, we can’t wait to see the creativity and mind-blowing code Boston’s developers are able to produce in 24-hours!
