How Venmo’s Helping Me Avoid Getting Sucker-Punched with the Pay Per View Bill for Mayweather Pacquiao This Weekend

Finally the long awaited Mayweather vs. PacquiaoUSE ME.png fight is this weekend. Tickets are going for up to $35,000 on Stubhub right now so the $100 to watch it on PPV doesn’t seem too bad but splitting it between the freeloaders coming over to my house to watch it seems even better.

HBO and Showtime, along with Mayweather Promotions and Top Rank have launched an innovative mobile ad experience  where you can quickly order pay-per-view to watch the fight of the century. Better yet, they've made it easy to split the cost by hitting the Venmo button.

Now, instead of chasing my friends for money, a mobile ad experience on Thrillist, College Spun and Men’s Fitness offers a direct link to a Venmo prefilled payment form. So in one click, I can request the money from my friends instead of starting my own boxing match to get them to pay up….because that six pack of Keystone Light and half eaten pack of Doritos won’t get you a plum seat in front of my TV.
