The use of RFID wristbands for payments at Low Festival was a hit, but why stop there? This week saw the expansion of cashless, walletless, phoneless transactions at two Palladium Group luxury hotels in Ibiza: Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel and Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza.
The process for activating an RFID bracelet is simple: the hotel sends an email to the guest to sync the guest’s PayPal account with the device. Upon check-in, the guest signs a billing agreement to activate payments via Reference Transactions.
Once activated, the bracelet works in prepaid fashion, automatically topping up at € 300 every time the balance goes below € 10. If the value of a particular purchase is higher than € 300, a transaction will be made for that amount. Any remaining balance at the end of a guest’s stay is automatically transferred back into their PayPal account.
Even better? Not only are guests able to use these RFID bracelets for making purchases, but also in place of their hotel keys. With all that functionality in one little bracelet, a vacation can be had the way it was meant to: worry-free.
