Maybe it’s because it’s in beautiful Golden Gate Park, but the Outside Lands Music Festival is one of my favorite music experiences each year. The anticipation for the festival has been palpable and exiting, and that’s saying a lot considering how much I wanted to be in Benidorm for the Low Festival a couple of weeks ago!
In fact, it seems everyone at PayPal loves Outside Lands as much as I do, because this will be our third year having a presence there.
For anyone who’s been previously, I’m sure you’re familiar with some PayPal staples, like the Convenience Store, where you can pick up items such as lip balm or a blanket if that Bay Area wind and fog roll in; the PayPal lockers, to store your stuff, and our bright blue periscopes to get a great view of the main stage.
While we will certainly be bringing all of these favorites back again this year, our footprint at the festival this weekend will be bigger - and in my opinion, BETTER - than ever before.
So what does that entail? A few examples include:
Check-in to pay with the PayPal app and get a $3-off offer at NINE of the best food vendors, including American Grilled Cheese Kitchen, Tacolicious, Glaze Teriyaki, Wise Sons, Proposition Chicken and more! Charging stations and craft areas in the PayPal tent Animated-gif photo booth because who doesn’t want a gif of themselves at OSL? The Refresh Station is back! Check your hair, get your face painted, or grab a temporary tattoo with the day’s lineup For a select few we are also doing a special “PayPal Concierge” service. We partnered with Alice Radio to give some lucky listeners the ability to skip the line and simply text PayPal with their food and beverage choices and we’ll get it for them!
Oh, and in case you haven’t heard, PayPal is also hosting a special invitation-only after-hours party with Chromeo and Holy Ghost on Friday night in downtown San Francisco. RSVPs capped out within two hours! I can't wait to see everyone there.
I’m excited to get to Golden Gate Park – yes for the music because you can bet I would not miss Tom Petty for the world – but also to continue to see how the “cashless music festival” will evolve as festival-goers demand more simplicity and ease in how pay and play.
Stay tuned here for more on-the-ground coverage of what we’ll be up to at Outside Lands this weekend. And if you’ll be at the festival, stop by the PayPal tent and say hi!
