Sheryl Gong, Marketing, PayPal
An ice cream lover at heart, Smitten Founder Robyn Sue Fisher started selling ice cream out of a red Radio Flyer wagon on the streets of San Francisco. The secret to her sweet success is liquid nitrogen, which freezes ice cream at extremely low temperatures resulting in smaller ice crystals and extra creaminess. Our lucky marketing team at PayPal got a close-up look at the making of this dense and tasty treat, which uses an innovative machine that Robyn creatively patented Brrr™.
Even better? You’ll always get the freshest ice cream at Smitten because the Brrr™ machine freezes the ice cream so quickly. Ice cream made to order! How cool is that?
When asked what the best thing about owning her own business was, Robyn undoubtedly said, “the people,” and highlighted inspiring happiness with something as simple as ice cream (including seasonal flavors like Fresh Mint Chip and Nectarine). She also noted giving customers more ways to pay also makes them even happier, as the PayPal Check-in process prevents the need to fumble for a wallet. “Customers can find us on the PayPal app then all they have to do is check-in, order and use their phones to pay. It’s as easy as that.”
With their previous POS system, Robyn and team used to have to write orders on Post-It notes, which would often fall and result in frustrated customers. After implementing Revel, a more robust POS solution, they now have a system that notifies the ‘Brrristas™’ when an order has been entered. Robyn attests that integrating PayPal into their POS system was a snap, and offered her customers yet another cool way to pay.
If you missed out on National Ice Cream day this past weekend, don’t fret! July is National Ice Cream month. Celebrate by trying Robyn’s ice cream and we're sure you'll be smitten too!
