Boston-based privileged access security provider CyberArk this week announced it can now automate detection, alerting and response for unmanaged and potentially risky Amazon Web Services (AWS) accounts.

Designed to simplify the continuous discovery and protection of privileged accounts in the cloud, the new capabilities were added to CyberArk Privileged Access Security Solution v10.8, which also brings flexible user access to cloud-based or on-premises Windows systems.

CyberArk’s updated solution can now identify privileged accounts in AWS, including unmanaged Identity and Access Management (IAM) users (such as Shadow Admins), and EC2 instances and accounts, the company says, to help track AWS credentials and accelerate the on-boarding process for these accounts.

The Privileged Access Security Solution also sends prioritized alerts on potentially risky behavior, including activities that bypass the vault and access key theft or mismanagement, and allows security teams to quickly take control of these risky accounts via automatic access key re-creation or rotation.

The tool also takes advantage of CyberArk’s Just-in-Time provisional access to Windows servers, enabling administrators to configure the amount of access time granted to Windows systems, regardless of whether they are cloud-based or on-premises, which reduces operational friction.

CyberArk’s solution also allows for a streamlined deployment of all core components, including vaulting, session management and threat analytics.

Also this week, CyberArk announced that it has added Rich Wenning as vice president of North American sales (he will lead the sales team on the continent) and Clarence Hinton as senior vice president of corporate development (in charge of strategic growth initiatives).

With 25 years of industry experience, Wenning also served as vice president of Americas Enterprise Accounts at Palo Alto Networks, and occupied various leadership and market development roles at Cisco before that.

Hinton, who previously served as senior vice president and head of strategy and corporate development at Nuance Communications, and who prior to that had strategy and corporate development roles at BMC Software, brings over 20 years of experience to CyberArk.
