BayPay Forum Atlanta to Host “The POS Revolution”
Local Payment Industry’s Leading Executives to Speak
Redwood Shores, CA, May 11, 2015. BayPay Forum, one of the world’s largest innovation and education networking organizations for the payment and ecommerce industries, today announced the Atlanta chapter will host a panel event on “The POS Revolution”. The presentations will take place on May 14th from 6PM to 9PM at the offices of Bryan Cave, One Atlantic Center, 14th floor, 1201 West Peachtree St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30309. This session, the first conducted by the Atlanta chapter, will discuss the changes in the POS space, the impact on the payments ecosystem and what the future of POS might be.
“There has never been a time with more change at POS,” comments Daniel Chatelain, Managing Director of the BayPay Forum. “mPOS, tablet-based systems, cloud-based platforms, NFC, and Beacons are creating a mix of innovation that is changing the way people will buy in-store.” He notes that POS is changing commerce as well. “Omni-channel and app based POS platforms with new commerce functionality have already started to impact the retail space,” he states. “Add to this the complexity of EMV implementation and the incorporation of mobile proximity payments, and POS is becoming an exciting area of the payments ecosystem.”
The evening’s panel will be moderated by Thad Peterson, Senior Analyst for the Aite Group where he focuses on the evolution of the payment space, the customer payment experience, and the merchant side of payments. Recognized as a global thought leader in payments, Peterson has a proven track record of identifying and developing new opportunities and technologies in payments and financial services.
The panel will include Mike Strada, Executive Director, Debit Relations and Strategy at Chase Merchant Services; Thomas Cornelius, Senior VP at InComm and President at Adility; as well as senior executives from Verifone and First Data.
Mike Strada has over 45 years of experience in the industry starting as the president and CEO of the Honor Debit Card Network, then serving as Group Manager of Electronic Payments for National Data and ultimately General Manager. He was CEO of his own consulting company specializing in electronic commerce strategies for 10 years before joining Chase eight years ago.
Thomas Cornelius has focused on the convergence of online and offline sales since 1997, when he started an ecommerce platform for retail merchants, developed the first largely available mobile ecommerce application and pioneered contextual online commerce. He has also served with Fortune 100 companies on new initiatives for digital promotions.
“In addition to the panel discussion, we always encourage a high level of audience participation,” Chatelain concluded. “We always work to include both start-ups and established companies into our events so participants get a wide range of views.”
