M2M Summit registered attendee and exhibitor record The M2M Summit has reinforced its reputation as being one of the most important events in the M2M environment with a new record. 747 registered trade visitors from 34 countries arrived last Wednesday at the Congress Center Dusseldorf to discuss the latest developments around the future of M2M technology. With 45 exhibitors from five countries another record was set. The 6th Edition of the M2M Summit was held for the first time in the "Mobile Capital" Dusseldorf with high-caliber speakers and seven hands-on workshops, a wider range than ever before. The official partner country of the event was the Netherlands. "The attendee and exhibitor record shows that we are on the right track," said Eric Schneider, 1st Chairman of the M2M Alliance. "If we cooperate more with the individual companies, sectors and countries, more can be achieved. M2M already recorded growth rates of 30-40 percent in a year. For the medium and long-term success, it is important that the cooperation will be further improved," said Schneider, who has been since the world's largest industry association in March. "We are pleased that we were able to attract M2M Summit manufacturers, users and research institutions from 34 countries to Dusseldorf," says Schneider.
Seven workshops on M2M The workshop "All over M2M", a new event format, was presented by the cross-thematic workshop and designed as a "Speakers' Corner." Parallel to the six theme-related workshops was an open forum for technical presentations and free exchange. The focus in the six other workshops were the topics "facility management", "vending / ticketing / Signage", "e-payment / Mobile Payment / Near Field Communication (NFC) Solutions", constituted "industrial control by M2M", "e-mobility and eCars" and "Security - to better protect people and objects through M2M."
M2M Best Practice Award During the event the M2M Best Practice Award was also presented by the M2M Alliance to highlight outstanding contributions. The winner in the category "Advantage" was Digi International Inc. with the "Connected Light Project." In the second category of "innovation", the Hochschule Offenburg continued with their submission to "build and take measurements for the energy-efficient operation of M2M communication to "beat the competition." Patron of the M2M Summit 2012 was Dr. Günther Horzetzky, Secretary, Ministry of Economy, Energy, Industry, Trade and Craft of North Rhine-Westphalia. Also welcomed was Klaus Zimmermann of the CCI Dusseldorf and Jürgen Grützner of VATM eV the present site. The date for the 2013 Summit is 10.09.. Venue: Congress Center Dusseldorf.
