Focusing on - Identification

For twenty years the smart card community has been meeting at its sector conference every January in Berlin. This year’s OMNICARD will be focusing on the major topic of identification, both of people and things. With its motto “The world of smart ID solutions”, the conference will be considering sophisticated system solutions, many of which are no longer confined just to card format.

The topics – Extended spectrum

Every year, as well as focusing on established topics, OMNICARD deals with new issues arising in the field of security, electronic identities and data protection. Banking, e- und mPayment, NFC, Smart Grid, eMobility und eEnergy are at the forefront. Another prominent topic will be Germany’s no longer quite so new identity card. We will also be looking at the latest user reports, new possibilities and developments, and at official standpoints. In addition, there will be numerous forums and workshops dealing with topics such as De-mail, online banking, bank payment transactions, eGovernment, eID, cloud computing and, last but not least, the electronic health card, which for years has been at the centre of impassioned debate.

Conference structure – Knowledge exchange and networking

The three-day conference is made up of major forums, intensive workshops and tutorials, panel discussion on controversial themes and outstanding key note speeches. This is what makes it a reliable platform for the regular exchange of knowledge and experience and a first-class networking occasion. Management and technical experts from the relevant industries meet here with decision makers from the financial sector, from the political world, from regulatory agencies and standardisation authorities. The conference also attracts researchers, association representatives and consultants.

The speakers – Decision makers from the world of industry and politics

A first-class programme needs first-class speakers. Year for year, the OMNICARD programme committee brings together the sector’s key players. Government plans and projects are outlined by representatives of the responsible ministries. From the fields of industry and research you will have the chance to hear the sector’s key actors and pace setters. At the panel discussions you can expect a high-level international line-up. Renowned keynote speakers will focus on major topical issues.

The setting – The atmosphere of a top hotel

The centrally situated Grand Hotel Esplanade provides the setting for OMNICARD. Around the entire conference area, there is a special parallel exhibition throughout the hotel. Coffee breaks and the traditional long and convivial evenings take place in the exhibition area. At the same time, most delegates avail of the opportunity to stay in one of the hotel’s comfortable rooms at preferential rates.

OMNICARD is a networking event. For three full days and on two long evenings delegates have the chance to make new contacts and renew old acquaintances. During this time, they get a comprehensive overview of new applications, risks and solutions, of technological trends, and of progress and delays in high-profile trendsetter projects.
