Enhancing and optimising the cash cycle
This year’s Future of Cash Conference will focus on the optimisation of the cash cycle. It coincides with the introduction of the second series of euro banknotes, which will represent another major challenge for the industry.
The conference brings together all stakeholders involved in the cash cycle: central banks, financial institutions, cash-in-transit companies, retailers and other cash users. It enables them to share their best practices and expertise, with the aim of improving the overall functioning of the cash cycle.
Key questions
• What is driving cash demand and how can banks meet this demand more effectively?Cross-country research on consumer cash usage will investigate payments behaviour and national differences. Retailers will also provide their analysis of cash usage at the point of sale.
• Is it now the right time for new interbank models? What are the latest trends and solutions? What’s the potential for pooling and sharing cash centres, ATMs and cash-in machines? What are the opportunities within interbank wholesale cash processing?
• What innovations contribute to increasing the efficiency of the cash cycle? Recent developments include cash recirculation at branch level and at the point of sale; the development of cash management tools to optimise cash flows; and new products and solutions to meet retailers’ needs.
