Mobile payments have taken the world by storm, with the market particularly heating up in the last twelve months.
There’s no denying that Samsung Pay and Apple Pay are driving the mobile payments ecosystem forward and transforming the state of play, creating new challenges and opportunities for issuers.

Olivier Manahan, Vice President of Emerging Payments at MasterCard
Oliver Manahan is the Vice President of Emerging Payments with MasterCard. In his role, Mr. Manahan is responsible for managing various aspects of MasterCard’s EMV chip, contactless and transit programs within the United States and Canada. Mr. Manahan has been with MasterCard since May 2006 and works closely with customers in defining and executing new payment strategies. Prior to joining MasterCard, Mr. Manahan was with Visa Canada for nearly a decade in the emerging products area. Mr. Manahan started his career in the Information Technology field, with companies such as Mercedes-Benz and Pepsi. Mr. Manahan is MasterCard’s Board Member on the Smart Card Alliance, co-chair of its Payments Council, and co-chair of the Debit committee at the EMV Migration Forum.
Neil Garner, CEO and Founder at Proxama PLC
Neil founded Proxama in 2005 (then called Glue4 Technologies). The business focused on creating services that link people and brands using consumer technologies. In 2008, the company was rebranded as Proxama with a focus on the applications of mobile, smartcard and NFC technologies. Neil passionately believes in using emerging technologies to create valuable services for people.
Prior to founding Proxama, Neil ran a division of a niche consultancy, Consult Hyperion, where he led the systems implementation teams for a number of ground breaking products including Vodafone’s m-Pesa, MasterCard’s PayPass, Sky and Barclaycard’s SkyCard and American Express Blue card.
Neil has a MEng and DPhil from York University and is a Chartered Engineer. Any precious time at home is split between renovating an old property and enjoying life with his wife and three young children.

Will Graylin, Global Co-GM at Samsung Pay and CEO at LoopPay
Will has started five companies since obtaining two Masters degrees from MIT, LoopPay, his third mobile payment startup, was acquired by Samsung in February 2015 and now operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary. The prior two were Way Systems (sold to Verifone), and ROAM Data (sold to Ingenico), both were leading mobile POS & mobile payment solutions providers. ROAM became the leading supplier of smartphone POS solutions and mobile readers with millions of units shipped worldwide.
Will’s companies have won numerous innovation awards in the payments industry. Will has been recognized as a Mover & Shaker in the industry and he is regularly invited to speak about mobile payments.
Will served as a US Navy Nuclear Submarine Officer for nearly 6 years, the first naturalized China born immigrant to serve in this program.
Jeremy Bornstein, Head of Payments Innovation, Royal Bank of Canada
Jeremy Bornstein leads the Payments Innovation group at RBC, one of the world’s leading financial institutions, where he is responsible for developing and executing products and strategies to defend and grow the bank’s retail payments business. Prior to his current role, Jeremy was the Managing Director of Corporate Strategy for RBC responsible for outlining the bank’s strategic direction for the board of directors. Before joining RBC, Jeremy was a Senior Manager at Accenture where he led the Canadian Financial Services Strategy practice. He holds a MBA and an Honors Business Administration (HBA) degrees from The Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario. Jeremy is also a director of a not-for-profit organizations focused on youth and community engagement.
Jeppe Dorff, Vice President of Transaction Services at Rogers Communications
Jeppe Dorff, a native of Denmark, brings with him a wealth of global perspective with a career spanning most continents and more than a handful of individual mobile payments and mobile banking deployments. Jeppe joined Rogers Communications where in his role as Vice President of Transaction Services he is responsible for development and execution on the transactional technology, product and business strategy. Most recently he was responsible for the negotiations, which led to the first commercial agreement between a wireless operator and a bank in Canada, and operates product portfolios in the area of mobile wallets, mobile identity, mobile point of sale and authentication infrastructure.
Prior to joining Rogers Communications, Jeppe has served in multiple executive roles including Vice President, Product, Strategy & Innovation with Mobile Money Ventures (A CitiGroup & SK Telecom Joint Venture), Sr. Vice President, Mobile Transaction Services - Clickatell, where he was responsible for the company's mobile payments division, Head of Product Development EnStream (a Rogers, Bell and TELUS Joint Venture), he was also the Founder & CTO of Secure Wireless Transfers where he developed the award winning KushCash platform, one of the first mobile payment deployments in North America. He is very active in mobile payments and financial inclusion initiatives globally and advises several companies in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Bart Venlet, Senior Product Manager, In-Branch Solutions & Consumer Payments at Central 1 Credit Union
Bart Venlet moved to Central 1 in 2010 after a long career in mobile. Central 1 is an organization owned by credit unions in British Columbia and Ontario and provides online / mobile banking services and payment processing services to credit unions across Canada. Recently, Forrester ranked Central 1’s mobile banking app as number 1 in North America in terms of functionality and usability. Within Central 1, Bart is responsible for managing the portfolio of in-branch solutions and consumer payment products.
Prior to joining Central 1, Bart worked for Vodafone in the Netherlands and Japan. He launched the first mobile micropayment product in the Netherlands in 2003, which enabled third party providers to receive payments for content and apps, and served as a catalyst for the development of the mobile internet. He also launched a highly successful portfolio of services for MVNOs, allowing third party brands to leverage Vodafone’s excellent network.
Ricky Ranjan, Vice President of Sales, North America, Proxama
Ricky Ranjan is vice president of sales for Proxama’s digital payments division, which offers solutions and expertise in NFC mobile payments. Ricky has more than 10 years’ experience in global sales and leadership within the mobile payment and NFC market. In prior positions, Ricky worked at UL Transactional Security, where he was responsible for telecom and mobile payment compliance for North America, and an account director for TDK, where he led global sales and business development of the Blackberry account. Ricky holds a dual MBA from University of Toronto and St-Gallen University (Switzerland), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of British Columbia.
