The Victory Lutheran College in Victoria, Australia had just started enrollment of students in a biometric check-in system designed to track tardy students when backlash from parents that hadn’t been informed of the new procedures led to suspension of the technology, according to an ABD Goulburn Murray article.

Many parents didn’t learn about the system, which utilizes finger vein recognition, until a newsletter was sent home informing parents of its intended purpose after students had already been scanned into the system.
