Celebrating Startup Blueprint’s One Year Anniversary

John Lunn, Senior Global Director, Developer Network, PayPal & Braintree

blueprint_anni.jpgThis week marks the one-year anniversary of our Startup Blueprint program, one of the many ways PayPal and Braintree are giving back to the startup and developer community. With this program, we partner with many of the top accelerators, incubators and investors around the world to find the best innovators out there. And today, we’re welcoming even more partners including Google Ventures, Hub:raum, InfinityVenture Partner, Incubate Fund and Wayra.

Only one year into the program, we’ve accepted nearly 900 startups providing each one with mentorship and white glove support from our Startup Advisors, all of whom have started their own business or worked at early

stage startups. As part of this program, startups also enjoy PayPal free transaction volume up to $1.5 million and Braintree free transaction volume up to $100,000.

While we’re celebrating each of the startups we’ve accepted into the program, CleanAgents, Powtoon,

The Ocean Cleanup and uBiome joined us this week at the Web Summit in Dublin. With the help of Startup Blueprint, these startups have had the support they need to get their feet off the ground.

We first met CleanAgents at BattleHack Berlin in June 2013, when they were only in one city in Germany. They joined Startup Blueprint only a few months later and with the support of the program and mentorship from Blueprint advisors and mentors, have now expanded to 20 cities across Germany, Belgium, Poland and Austria.

Powtoon has been able to take the benefits they’ve received from Startup Blueprint -- including

getting PayPal free transaction volume up to $1.5 million and Braintree free transaction volume up to $100,000 -- and paid it forward. With the tools and resources they received from Startup Blueprint, they were able to offer their educational tools for free to students and teachers around the globe.

We’re also excited to be supporting The Ocean Cleanup -- working to remove plastic from the oceans

-- and uBiome, which helps people better understand their microbiome to improve overall health.

Braintree’s a startup too, so we know how hard it can be to get up and running. We know with the right mentorship and support we can make it just a little bit easier to build, grow and scale.
