GST(Goods and Services Tax) in India

GST stands for Goods and Service Tax. In India, the GST is an indirect tax which was applied in India on 1 July 2017. GST is a single tax on the supply of goods and services, right from the manufacturer to the consumer. The introduced tax system will take the form of "dual GST" which is concurrently applied by central and state government. This will include of:

 

1. CGST(Central GST), which will be levied by Centre and 

2. SGST(State GST) Which will be levied by State, 

3. IGST, IGST(Integrated GST)- which will be levied by Central Government on inter-State supply of goods and services

 

GST Rates:

1. 0% tax is applied on some goods and services. 

0% tax rate on Products: Milk, Eggs, Curd, Lassi, Besan, Prasad and Fresh Vegetables etc.

 

2. 5% tax is applied on different types products.

 Examples: Sugar, Tea, Edible Oils, Domestic LPG, PDS Kerosene, Cashew Nuts and Coal etc.

 

3. 12% GST tax is applied on some goods and servies as Butter, Ghee, Almonds, Fruit Juice and Packed Coconut Water etc.
