Marc Kekicheff, Board Member, EMVCo
Marc's Bio:
Marc has over 21 years experience in the smart card industry and is currently serving on EMVCo Board of Managers and is chairman of the GlobalPlatform Board of Directors. He is one of the authors of the original EMV Specifications in 1996 and one of the inventors of GlobalPlatform specifications in 1998, a multi-application smart card industry standard, for which he holds a few patents. He has also actively participated in the original design of the Java Card Specifications in 1997, a multi-application smart card OS industry standard, and the multi-application smart card ISO standard 7816-13 in 2007. Since joining Visa in 1994, he has been responsible for designing, developing and implementing standards and technology strategy for smart cards, mobile and other chip-based form factors. This includes participation in and contribution to global standards bodies that impact the interoperability of Visa payment products and services; development of Visa technical specifications for products based on such standards; development of early implementations of new technology-based products; establishment and management of type approval means and procedures for Visa-branded products. He is also leading EMVCo’s Next Gen Task-Force and GlobalPlatform’s Mobile Task-Force looking at new business requirements and future evolution of the respective: payment and mobile, technologies.
