Maryse Volvert is Head of sector in the VAT Unit of DG TAXUD, at the European Commission. She is responsible for the place of supply rules, including issues related to the taxation of the digital economy, as well as for basic concepts of the VAT legislation, like the taxable persons and the right of deduction. She is also responsible for the work launched by the EU Commission on the future of VAT (towards a simpler, more robust and efficient VAT system). Maryse has held different positions in the tax departments of the EU Commission and the Belgian ministry of finance. She is of Belgian nationality, speaks French, English and Dutch.
