Jeff Malkoon was a recent college grad with an appetite for philanthropy when he went to South America to work for a youth-run organization called A Roof for My Country, an organization helping families in need of shelter. Upon his return home to Arizona in 2011, he wanted to continue to give back to the community. It was then that Jeff founded Peanut Butter Americano, a nut butter company. Having identified a need for affordable peanut butter, Jeff worked on creating his own version. He started grinding nuts in his mom’s kitchen and hasn’t looked back since.

To get his peanut butter in the hands of consumers online and on-the-go, Jeff leveraged PayPal in two ways. He used PayPal Here, a free mobile app and thumb-sized card reader that attaches to a smartphone or tablet, to accept credit cards at local farmers markets. In addition to PayPal Here, Jeff also used PayPal as his payments platform on his website, offering customers a secure way to pay for his products online. Being able to offer customers the flexibility on how and where they want to pay for his product ultimately helped him grow his business. PayPal gives PB Americano customers a name they can trust, and Jeff has said that “his business wouldn’t exist without it.” PB Americano processes all their online and offline payments through PayPal.
