CONTACTLESS RELIEF: Comic Relief statues placed in shopping centres across the UK

UK shoppers have been able to make contactless donations to a national charity via 10 larger-than-life statues of famous comedians placed in cities across the country.

Deployed in shopping centres, the statues have housed contactless payment terminals supplied by Spire Payments and allowed shoppers to make instant £1 donations using their contactless card to Comic Relief, which raises money for projects helping vulnerable people across the UK and Africa.

The following video shows comedian Miranda Hart launching Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day donation statues:

“As well as perfect selfie opportunities, just a simple tap on the pocket with a contactless card will give a £1 donation to help incredibly vulnerable people in the UK and across Africa,” says Comic Relief co-founder Richard Curtis.
