CEREMONY: Executives put cards into a mobile wallet at the cross-border system's launch

A cross border NFC payments service using On Track Innovations' Wave NFC add-on device is to be offered by Hong Kong ATM network JetCo, which has thirty member banks, by Taiwan's Trade-Van and by Macau's MTel.

The service is being deployed by TESS, a new division of Hong Kong-based Tradelink Electronic Commerce.

"After a thorough evaluation process, we found OTI's NFC payment platform and Wave device to be unparalleled," says Michael Wu, Tradelink's CEO. "OTI is able to deliver a simple yet secure solution to the end user, while retailers and payment processors benefit from new marketing opportunities, such as location-based coupons and loyalty programs which increase revenue and drive measurable ROI."

Jetco's plans to launch NFC payments were first revealed last month. Bank of China is expected to be the first to pilot the solution in Hong Kong.
