NFC Times Exclusive Insight – One of Australia’s largest banks, Commonwealth Bank, is launching NFC payments from its mobile-banking app using host-card emulation, having earlier tried embedded secure elements, contactless stickers and iPhone attachments.

The bank, which was the first to launch NFC payments with Samsung’s earlier embedded chip project using a MasterCard PayPass application, is adding the HCE functionality to its popular CommBank mobile-banking app. 

A spokeswoman told NFC Times that “CommBank is happy to now offer a holistic offering to more of our customers.”
