Financial Review: Publicly Traded NFC Vendors Show Mixed Results for 2013

NFC Times Exclusive: All publicly traded vendors across the NFC ecosystem have filed their year-end earnings reports, and the results show a mixed bag of promising sales for contactless and EMV technology, continued restructuring and expected challenges ahead from the advent of host-card emulation.

NFC Times takes an exclusive look at the financial results and prospects ahead for five publicly traded vendors that do a substantial business in NFC: Gemalto, Identive, Inside Secure, NXP Semiconductors and On Track Innovations. (See table below with key financial indicators).

The reports show continued restructuring by smaller vendors; a slow year for NFC by the market’s leading chip supplier, NXP Semiconductors; and strong overall results from large TSM and NFC SIM maker Gemalto, a vendor that has much to lose, however, with the coming of HCE.
