AmpStrip

WEARABLE: AmpStrip is designed to be comfortable enough to be worn 24 hours a day

FitLinxx has begun taking pre-orders for AmpStrip, a 24/7 wearable device that sends a range of health and fitness data direct to a user’s smartphone using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).

Waterproof and rechargeable, it sticks to the torso and tracks heart rate, physical activity, exercise load, skin temperature and posture.

AmpStrip measures 3.5 inches long, one inch wide and under one quarter of an inch thick, while weighing less than 4oz. It can be worn throughout the day and night, and is compatible with fitness apps including EndoMondo, MapMyRun, RunKeeper and Strava and is available via Indiegogo for US$119.

“The AmpStrip is applied to the left side of your torso where a super-sensitive single lead ECG sensor captures a clear heart rate signal,” FitLinxx explains. “It uses the industry standard Bluetooth LE to continuously communicate with your mobile app of choice and display real-time data and insights. It will store up to 24 hours of data when you’re away from your mobile device and sync as soon as it is within range.”

“We use our patented techniques in conjunction with Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) to achieve significantly reduced energy consumption and maximize data capture and battery life,” the team adds. “Under constant daily use in normal conditions, the battery will only need to be recharged every seven days or so.”
