France’s mobile-operator-led NFC association, AFSCM, has dropped its long-held NFC logo and touchpoint symbol for nonpayment services, Cityzi, in favor of on logo based on EMVCo’s contactless-payment acceptance mark.
The Cityzi logo has represented French NFC activities for about five years, appearing over thousands of NFC tags on smart posters at bus stops and other public areas in some major French cities, along with displays in mobile shops.
It was going to serve as the service mark for nonpayment city services, including some transit ticketing applications. Association members, which include France’s major telcos, banks and vendors, will not use the Cityzi logo and recommend it not be used in touchpoint symbols or in other places where consumers can tap for nonpayment services, a spokesman told NFC Times.
