NFC Times Exclusive Insight – Germany-based Giesecke & Devrient confirmed it is providing the host-card emulation technology for Commonwealth Bank’s commercial HCE launch this month of Tap & Pay from the bank’s Android-based mobile-banking app.

As NFC Times reported earlier this month, Commonwealth, one of Australia’s largest banks, launched HCE with G&D–it’s long-time banking card data prep provider–supplying the HCE technology for the CommBank mobile app. 

G&D had also served as TSM for the bank’s earlier foray into NFC payments, using an embedded chip in the Samsung Galaxy S4, which did not take off in the market.
