NFC Times Exclusive – With the role of the TSM coming under increasing pressure for being too complex and costly, Gemalto, the world’s largest TSM, is seeking to reposition its TSM offer–promoting it as being part of a large “trusted services hub,” as the France-based vendor tries to convince more banks to provision their credit and debit cards on NFC SIMs.
Gemalto on Wednesday announced a long-held contract to provide TSM services to New Zealand telcos and banks as part of the hub–even coining a new acronym for its TSM offer, “TSH,” for “trusted services hub.”
The vendor began promoting the idea of hub in earnest in September, claiming to have more than 1.5 billion mobile users worldwide covered under its various TSM platforms and theoretically able to be connected to its hub. Some call that a stretch and question whether what Gemalto is building can be considered a real hub.
