France-based Inside Secure reported a 9% drop in revenue in the first half, which it blamed on the end of shipments of NFC chips to BlackBerry and lower sales of “legacy” EMV chips to Europe.

But the vendor noted that second half revenue was up in its mobile security unit, one of its two divisions, thanks to its $19.2 million NFC licensing deal with Intel, most of which it recorded in the second quarter. Inside released its second quarter and first-half earnings results Friday. 

Inside pointed out that the Intel deal and licensing revenue and royalties from its embedded security solutions and related businesses amounted to $32.1 million, or half of its total $64.2 million in sales for the half.
