US NFC venture Isis is considering using host card emulation (HCE) to store a user's loyalty card and coupon information, the company has told NFC World, and is also looking into supporting HCE for credit card payments — should banks decide they want to use the technology.
The move follows news that two in three Isis users have added a payment card to their Isis Mobile Wallet and new users are now using the service an average of six to seven times a month.
"Isis is growing at 50% each month," CEO Michael Abbott told NFC World. "If you take the total number of users, divide it by two, that is how many new users we are adding every month. It's a pretty incredible growth rate, given we have only been available nationwide since November."
Isis' Toys R Us campaign, which offered US$15 back on purchases over $30 during the holiday period, was one of the toy retailer's most effective digital coupon campaigns that they have ever run, Isis has also revealed, while the Jamba Juice promotion is also proving to be a success.
Isis is now turning its attention to taxi users, running a promotion with American Express that gives 50% back in statement credits to card members who use Isis to pay their New York City yellow cab fares — up to a maximum of $100.
