NFC-on-microSD pioneer DeviceFidelity has been acquired by Kili Technology, a payments processing solution provider which launched an mPOS “solution-on-a-chip” range last month.
DeviceFidelity will now operate as a subsidiary of Kili with founders Deepak Jain and Amitaabh Malhotra continuing to manage the division. The company’s existing secure microSD and NFC products will continue to be offered and “an exciting new lineup of mobile point of sale and wearable products” will be developed, DeviceFidelity says.
“DeviceFidelity has long pioneered the role of mobile devices as the leading platform of choice for secure transactions; a vision now being embraced by some of the planet’s most powerful technology and payments companies” Jain says.
“Kili’s vision and product strategy is a great fit for us and this merger will accelerate our plans to bring innovative, easy to deploy, end-to-end mobile solutions to merchants, consumers, telecom operators and financial institutions.”
“Combining DeviceFidelity’s highly accomplished team and proven track record with our vast portfolio of intellectual property will help accelerate our growth plans” adds Greg Wolfond, founder of Kili Technology.
DeviceFidelity introduced its first NFC microSD device in 2009 and signed a deal with Visa in 2010 for its devices to be used in a number of early NFC payments field tests. The company’s products include a range of cases that enable NFC functionality to be added to early iPhones that lack in-built NFC capabilities.
