Exhibition and convention centre ExCel London is to use technology from Poken to provide event organisers with an NFC-based digital networking and content collection platform.
Poken’s USB NFC devices enable event visitors to swap digital business cards and collect rich digital content delivered by exhibitors “at a touch”. Visitors can then download the information collected at an event to their computer on returning to their home or office.
Visitors to the venue will see Poken equipment installed around the halls, and all future event organisers using ExCel London will be given the opportunity to enable their events with the technology.
“At ExCel London, home of world technology events, we are committed to bringing new technology and a better experiences to all of our organisers, exhibitors and visitors,” says James Mark, the venue’s executive director. “Working with Poken was an easy decision for us because of how simple and engaging it is to network with the device.
“Also, the fact that we can reduce the overuse of paper is a win for all involved; Poken allows everyone to reduce their carbon footprint while still receiving the important required information.”
“The trend towards greening events has increased interest in our technology as the simplest way to have an immediate, visible impact on reducing waste,” adds Stephane Doutriaux, founder and CEO of Poken.
