Japanese retailers are to be able to provide shoppers with branded NFC mobile wallets, courtesy of a new white label platform to be offered jointly by MasterCard, C-Sam and DNP.
The NFC white label service combines C-Sam's Mobile Transaction Platform (MTP), MasterCard's PayPass contactless payment solution and DNP mobile wallet technology.
The platform will provide merchants with a way to "enhance and simplify the shopping experience by offering their customers convenient, contactless, transactional and value-added services via their smartphone," the partners say.
"In addition to enjoying the convenience and security of contactless payment, consumers using this NFC wallet solution can add multiple services, including loyalty cards and mobile coupons, while merchants and retailers can offer special discount programs and deals tailored specifically to meet each customer's personal preferences, based on their purchasing history."
MasterCard bought a stake in C-Sam in December 2012.
