BARCELONA, Spain – MasterCard Worldwide is seeking to expand its little-used service provider TSM aggregation service from Poland to Germany, planning to announce a deal to connect a TSM platform to three major German telcos.
MasterCard said its wholly owned Poland-based transaction processor, Trevica, would seek to offer a TSM platform service to German issuers and had signed deals to connect this platform to TSMs from Deutsche Telekom and the German branches of Telefónica and Vodafone. Together the three telcos make up around 80% of mobile subscribers in Germany.
Banks or other issuers would be able to plug into the aggregation platform to provision their applets on NFC SIM cards issued by the three operators. The Trevica TSM would connect to the three separate TSMs maintained by the telcos, and this is designed to require fewer connections, since banks using the Trevica TSM would not have to make their own connections to the telco TSMs.
