Orange NFC Chief: We Want to Talk to Apple about Putting Orange Cash on iPhone

NFC Times Exclusive: The head of mobile payments for France-based mobile operator Orange Group said he wants to talk to Apple about enabling the telco’s co-branded payment application, Orange Cash, on the Apple Pay platform.

Thierry Millet, vice president for mobile payments and contactless at Orange Group, told NFC Times he would accept to put Orange Cash on embedded chips in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus when Apple Pay comes to Europe, if Orange could work out a deal with Apple. He noted, however, that European issuers earn much less interchange revenue than their U.S. counterparts so would be less able to give Apple any significant cut of transaction fees.
