Samsung has added a new smartphone to its Galaxy range. The Galaxy Mega "phablet" comes in two sizes, with a 6.3-inch or 5.8-inch HD LCD screen. The 6.3-inch model will come with NFC. Both versions will be available globally, beginning in Europe and Russia in May 2013.

The new phones come with 8MP rear-facing and 1.9MP front-facing cameras, a dual core processor and run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

"We are aware of a great potential in the bigger screen for extensive viewing multimedia, web browsing, and more," says JK Shin, CEO and head of IT and mobile business at Samsung Electronics. "We are excited to provide another choice to meet our consumers' varying lifestyles, all while maintaining the high-quality features of the award-winning Galaxy series."
