Samsung is to include biometric sensors in tablets and low-end mobile phones, delegates at the company’s 2014 Investors Forum in Hong Kong have heard.
Injong Rhee, Samsung’s enterprise R&D chief, also revealed plans to make use of iris verification technology as well as the fingerprint technology included in the Galaxy S5.
“We are adding more biometric authentication mechanisms,” he says. “One is fingerprint and what is coming in the future is iris detection, and those things are actually coming into our devices. The hardware cost for sensors is coming down very, very fast as well. Biometric sensors will be available to low-end devices.”
