Spanish Airline Adds NFC Card Tapping to Mobile Booking App

Spanish airline Vueling has added an NFC feature to its mobile application, allowing users to tap a contactless card with an NFC handset to fill in part of their card data, which they could then use to book a flight with the app.

Users with NFC-enabled Android smartphones and contactless credit or debit cards can tap the cards to fill in the purchase form with the credit card number and expiration date. To complete the purchase and charge the account, users must manually enter the cardholder name, the CVV from the back of the card and the card brand, which an airline spokesman said includes Visa, MasterCard and Diners’ Club.

“Only some fields are completed automatically after approaching [a] credit (or) debit card via NFC, but they have to add more fields in order to authenticate the payment,” Serrano told NFC Times.
