Visitors to Starbucks’ newly opened express store on Wall Street in New York are being met by one of the coffee chain’s employees upon entry, who then takes their order using a handheld device.
“Getting this right meant starting from the beginning where, upon entry, customers are greeted by a Starbucks partner (employee) who will be able to take orders with a handheld device,” Starbucks says. “Creating mobile point of sale positions throughout the store can help manage wait times.”
The compact 538 square-foot location is the first in a pilot project that will see a further four express format stores opened across the city this year.
