The winners of this year's Wima NFC competition have been announced — with Think&Go NFC scooping three awards.
The NFC retail specialist's Tim Baker picked up awards for Best Retail Solution for NFC Shopping and Best Marketing Solution for Dynamic NFC Screen, as well as the Audience Award.
Hajo Sandschneider from Comprion took home the Best Testing Solution award for the company's automated NFC Forum device test application, developed with Stollmann, while the award for Best NFC Event Management Solution went to the Tazevent solution from Taztag. Sistelnetworks' Jorge Marcos picked up the Best Startup award for the vWand, an innovative NFC stylus that adds NFC to tablets, smartphones and touchscreen PCs.
Best NFC Hardware was awarded to Payter for its interactive smart poster system for narrowcasting and information services. Payter's smart posters are connected to an NFC terminal that rotates the content according to which advertisement is currently being shown.
Finally, Wolfgang Müllner took the Best Research Track award back to Seibersdorf Laboratories for an NFC-based ultraviolet radiation assessment for sunburn prevention. Seibersdorf's patented concept allows usually costly personal UV monitors to be replaced by an NFC transponder in smart card format.
Seibersdorf also picked up the Best In Show award and received a PowerUp wireless charging speaker from Nokia.
Each winner received an NFC teddy bear with specific information on the winner and their work stored on an NFC tag embedded in the bear's shirt. Two other tags, one in each ear, provide details on the Wima NFC Monaco and Wima NFC USA events.
