NFC Times Exclusive – Taiwan’s TSM banking joint venture has received proposals from at least four vendors to supply host-card emulation and tokenization technology, as the group seeks to expand its thus far little-used TSM platform to offer its member banks the ability to launch cloud-based NFC payments by the end of 2015, NFC Times has learned.
The Taiwan Mobile Payment Co. joint venture is not expected to be the only banking or even telco group originally set up to support provisioning of conventional SIM-based NFC to expand to HCE and tokenization.
NFC Times has learned that four of the vendors submitting proposals to the Taiwanese banking group by last Friday’s deadline are France-based Gemalto, Bell ID of the Netherlands, U.S.-based Mozido and Hewlett-Packard, the latter probably using technology from Canada-based Carta Worldwide.
