A 34-page white paper that addresses key security questions relating to cloud-based payments, tokenization and host card emulation (HCE) technology is now available to download from the NFC World Knowledge Centre.
‘The NFC Security Quiz v2.0 — Updated with HCE & Tokenization’, published by consulting services provider Fime, reports on the potential threats to sensitive NFC services, the certification requirements relevant to the NFC payments landscape today and the role of NFC security certification in the future.
It also discusses solutions such as white box cryptography, code obfuscation, data ciphering, trusted execution environments (TEEs) and the encryption of data over the air to enhance the security of host card emulation (HCE) services.
“The paper aims to expose the current state of play in the NFC security certification ecosystem so that service providers can identify a route forward that balances security, functionality and cost,” says Christian Damour, security business line manager at Fime.
