Yota adds NFC to its dual display phone

The second-generation Yotaphone comes with NFC

Russian phone maker Yota Devices is to offer a new version of its YotaPhone, a handset that comes with two displays — this time a 5-inch full HD Amoled screen at the front plus a 4.7-inch always-on, full-touch control electronic paper display to the rear.

As well as the dual displays, the second generation YotaPhone features a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 8 megapixel rear camera, Bluetooth 4.0, wireless charging and NFC.

The 960 by 540 pixel e-ink display allows users to both view and respond to email and SMS notifications, meeting invitations and social media updates without having to wake up the colour display, and allows the phone to stretch its battery life to up to 50 hours.

An SDK has also been made available to third-party developers interested in creating apps that take advantage of the YotaPhone's display capabilities and a number of new apps are being demonstrated at the Mobile World Congress.
