DASH BANK: CaixaBank app allows drivers to check balances and initiate transfers on the go

Spain’s CaixaBank has launched an app which allows customers to use voice commands to perform simple online banking operations, opening the way for drivers to check balances and initiate transfers as they travel.

The Android app, called Línea Abierta Basic, lets users make balance enquiries, view account and card transactions and perform transfers between CaixaBank accounts. Customers can also use the app to search for CaixaBank branches and ATMs nearby.

The app has been developed to also work with vehicles fitted with Ford Sync with AppLink, which allows users to connect mobile devices to their vehicles and control them using voice commands.

Customers can issue commands such as “Show me my account ending in 12″, “What’s my Visa card balance?”, “I want to send two euros from my account to my account B” or “I want to find the nearest branch”.

The bank’s full-featured mobile app is used by 3.4 million customers, and CaixaBank says it will add biometrics, such as fingerprint identification, to the apps in future.
