With the news coming ahead of the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix, McLaren Racing highlighted its enthusiasm over Mastercard being part of its growing global racing community. Mastercard’s sponsorship in Formula 1 Back in April 2024, news came that four Formula 1 teams were working on securing sponsorship from Mastercard, including Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston Martin, and McLaren.
At that time, McLaren was leading the track in getting Mastercard on board, with the winning team being set to get a substantial capital injection from the financial services firm. Moreover, the same announcement mentioned that if McLaren received the deal it could be a title sponsor, which could result in a name change for the team. Considering that McLaren Racing now secured the sponsorship, the two brands did not mention in their press communications whether the name change is set to happen or not.
Previous news from McLaren Racing The alliance with Mastercard follows McLaren Racing’s multi-year collaboration with Airwallex, with the latter becoming an official partner of the team. Through this, Airwallex was set to support McLaren’s global financial operations via its treasury management and cross-border pay-outs, introducing a digital merchandise platform and settlement product suite. In addition, by joining forces, the fintech intended to advance its growth trajectory as it continued to expand globally.
