Mercedes-Benz Financial Services USA LLC, which provides finance, lease and insurance services to customers of Mercedes-Benz brand cars, SUVs and vans, announced today that the CEO of Mercedes pay USA will take part in a connected car panel at AutoTech Detroit on Wednesday, June 7th to detail how Mercedes pay is turning the car into a payment device, together with a representative of Mercedes pay's partner in offering in-car payments for off-street parking, Parkopedia.
The newly released in-car feature, available on any Mercedes-Benz vehicle in the US with the MBUX infotainment system and on-board navigation installed, allows drivers to identify available off-street parking facilities and reserve a parking space via the infotainment system.
The system enables motorists to select check-in and check-out times, and view the total cost and confirm their booking, at which point drivers will be sent a QR code to scan when arriving at the car park to gain entry. Payment processing is then enabled automatically by Mercedes pay. Parkopedia, one of the leading parking service providers in the US, provides the location and parking facility data that helps enable this feature.
With this Mercedes-Benz exclusive feature, drivers will end the hunt for parking meters, loose change, or the right smartphone app - Mercedes pay just made paying for off-street parking much more convenient. Drivers will be able to start, stop, and then securely pay for their off-street parking using the in-car MBUX system or the Mercedes me Connect app.
On Wednesday, June 7th, Jana Breitkopf, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes pay USA, will be taking part in a panel discussion on Connected Cars at the AutoTech Detroit conference. Joining Ms. Breitkopf will be Dr. Hans Puvogel, the COO of Mercedes Pay partner Parkopedia, among other industry experts and in-car payments for parking will be one of the topics discussed.
