Canada-based financial institution TD Bank Group (TD) has entered into a strategic collaboration with TouchBistro to offer payment solutions to restaurant owners in the region. Through this partnership, TD and TouchBistro, which is an independent software vendor, intend to allow Canadian restaurant and food service entrepreneurs to optimise all management and payment services into a POS and restaurant management system.

The TouchBistro system supports owners in managing orders, reservations, staffing, floor plans, and reconciling bills in a single platform. The announcement comes after TD and Google Cloud teamed up to augment banking experiences and simplify development, utilising Google’s secure infrastructure. The two organisations, which formed a multi-year strategic partnership, planned to work on optimising application development and deployment and allow the bank to respond efficiently to changing customer expectations by introducing new features, updates, or new financial products.

More options for Canadian restaurant owners Now available for use for all TD customers, TouchBistro offers restaurant entrepreneurs the solutions they need to scale sales and simplify their operations via a suite of front-of-house, back-of-house, and guest engagement technology. When commenting on the announcement, representatives from TD underlined that working together with TouchBistro is set to provide merchants with the ability to integrate their TD payment devices and benefit from the restaurant POS functionality and features that the company delivers. Through this, the two organisations intend to meet the preferences, demands, and needs of restaurant owners, while allowing them to both simplify and expand their operations.

Furthermore, by equipping merchants with the ability to implement their TD payment device with a restaurant management system, they can offer increased convenience in payments, as well as improved customer service. In addition, providing an integrated payment solution enables merchants to scale efficiencies, generate insights about their business, ensure the security of payment data, and offer an augmented experience to customers. The end of March 2024 also saw TD rolling out TD Complete Checking and TD Early Pay, with the financial institution intending to simplify the banking experience.

TD Complete Checking worked towards supporting the modernisation of the checking experience, while TD Early Pay was set to allow customers to receive their eligible direct deposits up to two business days early. The two new products were intended to assist the bank in advancing its commitment to optimising all its services, as it takes into account user feedback and offers flexibility and control to its customer base.
