Tranglo , a global cross-border payments company, has expanded its services across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). According to the official press release, this move brings Tranglo’s payment services to over 31 million migrant workers in the region, many of whom are from South and Southeast Asia and rely on remittances to support families in their home countries.
The same source reveals that remittance flows to low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) reached approximately USD 626 billion in 2022, with GCC countries contributing more than USD 120 billion. Remittances from the GCC are projected to grow in 2024, influenced by stable oil prices and expanded social protections for migrant workers. Tranglo initially entered the GCC market through the United Arab Emirates in 2023, providing direct bank account transfers.
With its newly added markets, the company aims to facilitate more efficient financial access in the GCC by offering options for quick and affordable cross-border payments. Services in Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain will allow individuals to send funds via cash pick-up, available for near-instant collection in local currencies, Omani Rial (OMR), Qatari Riyal (QAR), and Bahraini Dinar (BHD). Tranglo officials commented on the expansion, noting that the GCC has unique needs for safe, cost-effective cross-border payments to support migrant workers.
They added that the new market entries are part of Tranglo’s commitment to supporting financial inclusion and simplifying remittances. Tranglo operates through its proprietary platform, Tranglo Connect, which allows financial institutions and businesses to manage cross-border payments. The platform provides end-to-end integration of payout and partner services through direct API access, enabling secure transactions to over 100 countries worldwide.
