Uber has announced a partnership with Amazon that enables Amazon Echo device owners to leverage Alexa to track the status of Uber Eats orders in the US

Uber has announced a partnership with Amazon that enables Amazon Echo device owners to leverage Alexa to track the status of Uber Eats orders in the US. Starting May 2023, US consumers are set to be able to track the status of Uber Eats orders, with the new integration unlocking real-time, hands-free order tracking for Echo users throughout the country.

Uber Eats order tracking and what the Amazon collaboration entails Based on the information provided in the press release, the Uber Eats integration with Alexa provides consumers with timely updates on critical points within the delivery process, beginning when an order is being prepared through to when the driver is arriving, as well as when the order is delivered. Consumers are enabled to set how to receive the updates, and Alexa can announce whenever there is a status change to their order from one or all their household devices, or they can select to receive an Alexa notification instead, which would have the light on their Echo device change to yellow so that consumers can ask: ‘Alexa, what’s my notification?’. To begin leveraging the solution, users should first go to the Voice Assistant settings in the Uber Eats app and turn on the ‘Track with Alexa’ button, and after the checkout is complete, they are enabled to tap Alexa to be able to track their order.

Commenting on the integration, Ethan Hollinshead, Lead Product Manager at Uber stated that with order tracking on Alexa, managing orders from Uber Eats is now increasingly easier. The spokesperson added that as the company knows that consumers are busier than ever before, the Alexa integration launch aims to unlock new methods to help simplify the experience and assist consumers with getting anything from anywhere, something that is a constant priority for the enterprise. Adding on the announcement, Mark Yoshitake, GM, and Director of Alexa Skills advised that simple, ambient experiences enable customers to be more with family and friends, as they shouldn’t need to be distracted by checking for delivery-related updates on their mobile apps.

As per the official’s statement, customers now have the option to carry on with their activities and trust Alexa to announce them when the driver is approaching with their order, or to update them should there be a material change to the estimated delivery time, which is believed to showcase the ways in which Alexa helps simplify customers’ lives. As per the information detailed in the press release, Uber Eats order tracking on Alexa is available on Echo devices in the US. What is more, Amazon is Uber’s third partner within the voice-activated space, following partnership announcements with Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri for voice ordering integrations within the last year.
