Cloud-based neobank Viva.com has announced the expansion of its Tap-to-Pay on iPhone offering to the Netherlands to enable contactless payment acceptance for merchants. With Tap-to-Pay on iPhone, all contactless payment forms are accepted, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets, leveraging only an iPhone and the Viva Terminal iOS App, with no requirement for additional hardware or payment terminals.
Viva.com and capabilities of the Tap-to-Pay on iPhone solution As per the information detailed in the press release, Tap-to-Pay on iPhone and the Viva Terminal iOS App enable contactless, instant payment acceptance for products, services, and more, helping elevate how transactions are made. Suitable for any business, no matter the size and sector – ranging from the hotel bar service to the shop-in-shop marketplace to freelancers and sole proprietors, the Viva Terminal App allows customers to pay both onsite and on the move. Tap-to-Pay on iPhone enables Viva.com’s merchant network to leverage a payment solution that is easy to set up and use.
To start using Tap-to-Pay on iPhone, merchants can download the Viva Terminal App on the Apple App Store on an iPhone XS or later running the latest iOS version. When at checkout, the merchant needs to simply prompt the customer to hold their iPhone or Apple Watch to pay with their contactless credit or debit card, Apple Pay, or other digital wallets near the merchant’s iPhone, following which the payment is set to be completed in a secure manner. What is more, the Viva Terminal App is compatible with any existing bank account, and it features, amongst others, advanced encryption, and security protocols.
The press release further highlights that Tap-to-Pay on iPhone makes use of the built-in features of iPhones to ensure that businesses' and customers’ data is kept private and secure. Whenever a payment is processed, Apple does not store card numbers, nor on the device or on Apple servers. Commenting on the news, Dimitris Papaioannou, Regional Director at Viva.com advised that the introduction of Tap-To-Pay on iPhone to the company’s Dutch clientele follows the UK launch announced earlier in July 2023.
Per their statement, the Netherlands has been a market to foster innovation related to payments technology, and accepting payments leveraging only an iPhone and the Viva Terminal App is believed to be a ‘game-changer’, as payments are made increasingly simple and efficient, whereas business operations are simplified, alleviating the difficulties associated with traditional payments hardware. Viva.com’s offering and mission A European, cloud-based neobank, Viva.com aims to change how businesses pay and get paid, providing unifying, yet localised, end-to-end advanced digital payments solutions and embedded banking services tailored to their needs. Leveraging the power of technologies such as the Viva Terminal App and Smart Checkout payment gateway, Viva.com provides an omnichannel solution that offers ways to process online and in-person transactions, simplifying business operations and improving the customer experience.
