Yahoo has announced new AI tools for Yahoo Mail to expand its existing AI beta experience, including an all-new shopping feature: Shopping Saver. These main enhancements by Yahoo come with the aim to save users time and money, as well as bring transformation to the inbox and strengthen its user experience. An exclusive feature within Yahoo, the Shopping Saver tool has the ability to discover long-forgotten gift cards and discount codes, as well as store credits in users’ inboxes.

It also drafts suggested messages to vendors to help apply those savings after a purchase has been made. According to research by Bankrate, almost half of adults in the US have at least one unused gift card, gift voucher or store credit. Therefore, Yahoo Mail now enables users to cash in with what was once in their inbox. Shopping Saver and other features are available for Yahoo Mail’s AI beta experience that opened to iOS users earlier in 2023. In preparation for a public release, the beta expands across both iOS and web browsers. In addition to this new shopping tool, Yahoo has also implemented several AI beta expansions to its existing features, which are supported by Google Cloud’s AI technology.

Upgrades to Existing Features: Search: now suggests common questions to help users find what they’re looking for, aiming to create a more intuitive search experience. Rather than relying solely on keywords or searching through old emails, users can now just ask a question, or select from a list of prompted queries relevant to their search terms. Users can also now benefit from new filters such as from, to, and date to narrow their search results even further.  Writing Assistant: drafts suggested replies in the voice of the user, identifying appropriate tones through context clues from existing email chains to best suit the conversation (tones such as professional or casual).

The new beta expansion increases the available tones from two options to an unlimited offering, enabling the user to choose their desired tone like urgent, grateful, or apologetic.  Message Summary: provides users with summaries of messages, highlighting key information like dates, times, and action items. This tool then suggests tasks, calendar events, or follow-up topics.
